Introduction to American Mahjong 10/16 & 10/23

Curious about Mahjong but not sure where to begin? Join our Beginner’s Mahjong Class and discover the fundamentals of this timeless and engaging game in a welcoming, relaxed environment. Whether you’re completely new or simply looking to build confidence, this class is designed to guide you step by step through the basics of American Mahjong. This is a two-part introduction class, with two hours per session. The first session will be Friday 10/16 5:30p-7:30p, and the second session will be Friday 10/23 5:30p-7:30p. During the class, you’ll learn: Tile meanings and suits How to read the 2026 National Mahjong League (NMJL) card The Charleston The flow of the game Essential beginner strategies Our goal is to help you learn at your own pace while meeting others and enjoying the rich tradition and fun of Mahjong. All tiles, 2026 NMJL cards, and class supplies will be provided. Please feel free to arrive a few minutes early to find parking on Caroline St. and get settled before the lesson begins. Please note: there is a 48-hour cancellation policy for this class. Without prior notice we cannot find a replacement to fill your seat. You will not be refunded if you do not cancel prior to 48-hours in advance of the first class session.
